The Home Building Process
- If you're building your first home the first and one of the most important steps is selecting an appropriate building site. The lot or acreage you choose should be suitable for constructing the type of home you want.
- The pre-construction phase will see you finalizing your home's design and begin ordering major construction materials. Four Seasons will give you a tentative construction schedule so you're involved in every step of the process.
- Foundation and Site Work - Before the home is built, the site must be cleared and graded. Once this is done, trenches for the foundation are dug and built of poured concrete.
- Once the foundation is set, the floor, walls, stairs (if applicable) and roof are built. The frame is the shell of the home that provides the shape of the structure.
- Next is the stage where your home is closed in. Once you choose your exterior look your new house is beginning to look like a home at least from the outside. Windows and doors are also installed during this stage.
- At this stage of the building process all mechanical aspects such as electrical & a/v wiring as well as plumbing are completed.
- Next on the list is insulation. This stage is designed to keep you and your family comfortable in the house. There are many choice to make your new home as energy efficient as possible.
- Now your new home is really about to take shape as the interior finish work begins. Walls and ceilings are built, interior doors are installed as well as cabinets, countertops, and flooring. The plumbers and electricians return to finish their jobs, installing registers, faucets, and light fixtures and appliances.
- The next stage takes us back to the outside of your home as the finish work there begins. Your yard is formed including any driveways or walkways. Landscaping such as trees, shrubs, and grass are added. Other outdoor elements such as swimming pools, patios and gazebos are also added at this stage.
- Next final inspections are conducted. If you any concerns they are addressed. Once completed all remaining construction materials are removed, and the home is cleaned and ready for the closing.
